Steps to make your Desktop Icons Transparent
Follow the following steps to make your Desktop Icons Transparent:
Step 1:
Click on the Start menu and then click on Control Panel. From the Control Panel window, double-click on the Systems icon and the System Properties window will be appeared.
Step 2:
From the "System Properties" window, select Advanced tab. Click on the Performance area's Settings button.
Step 3:
After finishing the above steps, Performance Options window will be opened. Select Visual Effects tab. At last select Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop feature and click on OK button.
Now, you will see that the icons of the desktop are transparent. There is no red color at the background of the icon text or icons. After finishing the above steps, your desktop may look like the following

Great Hub Rancid...I never knew that. My icons have just always been transparent.
I do have an import business in Asian and I did something similar to what you do when one of my staff lost all their icons. Maybe that would be a good blog too? How to get your icons back...humm
